Britain - The 2 Minute Parliamentary Democracy?

The Terror Bill - terrifying because it overturns six centuries of English liberties - was debated for a mere six hours, despite 180 amendments being put down. So that is an hour per century of traditional liberties or, allowing for a little debate, 2 minutes per amendment according to one MP.

The Home Secretary Charles Clarke didn't even bother to stay around for the whole debate, unlike Ken Clarke, the former Home Secretary, who put in a class performance against the measures.

520 MPs voted (where were the missing 130?) the government had a majority of 14. You could soon be imprisoned in Britain on the say-so of the secret police. And so ends the due process of justice in Britain... unless the unelected Lords save us.
