I don't see what's wrong. Oliver has highlighted an issue and the Government has responded accordingly. It's called lobbying and Jamie Oliver has been successful. Considering the millions spent on lobbying by industry, it's nice to see that ordinary people can influence government too.
As for your reference to Tony's daughter, I think it is beneath contempt of you to bring her into this and I'd very much like it if you'd delete all references to her from this site.
What's the betting Oliver will leap up in the Sunday Times 'Power List', whenever it comes out, followed by demands to give him a People's Peerage etc.
It's a slippery slope, a Jamie Oliver-influenced political world can only mean re-releases of Toploader's 'Dancing in the Moonlight' and a statesman role of some description for Vernon Kay. I'd settle for George Orwell's vision of progress, that of a boot stamping on a human face, any day of the week compared to that.
Any truth in the rumour that Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is to take over town planning from Prescott? Its an odd way to run a country.
Jamie said "This government doesn't give a shit about kids." What was he highlighting there Monkey? Why when Ruth Kelly came into office and published her plans for education originally, (after Jamie had seen the then Education Secretary, Charles Clarke), was there no extra money allocated for school meals? Bandwagon? More like a Spin-propelled-policy-panic. Could it be Jamie's hit TV show resonated with voting parents? So if the contestants of the next Big Brother series were to hit a popular nerve would government policy change in the future? Jamie is not "ordinary people" incidentally, he's a famous multi-millionaire businessman with hit TV shows and books, I don't think he'll be voting for your lot.
Oliver has already said he would be a natural

Ordinary people like millionaire Jamie Oliver, you mean? Good old New Labour. Always looking out for the little guy...
