New Frontier Foundation - Finished

So farewell the New Frontier Foundation or as someone unkindly called 'em, the blogging wonkers, they were supposed to herald a Neo-Con surge in British politics. Rumours have been circulating for months that they were to shut-up shop. Kinda tough to raise funds for a Neo-Con opposition to a Neo-Con PM I suppose.

Think tanks should focus on policy ideas rather than blog posting if they want to shift the political agenda. NFF forgot that policy formation is more than a 200 word blog piece.

A bit like Howard Flight's political career, which has also creatively destructed itself.

Joking aside though, I'm positively baffled as to why Michael Howard has responded in such a heavy-handed manner. Does he really think that the British public now view the Tories as this soft and cuddly party of public service stewardship and then, oh no, this Howard Flight character's gone and tarnished their otherwise spot-less public image? Tsk, and to think they would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids...

But why stop there? How do we know the Tories aren't planning to re-introduce Section 28 and put the age of gay consent back up to 21 or to bring back the hereditary peers and abolish the GLA? What other 'secret plans' are they working on?

Abolishing the GLA? Getting rid of another layer of useless politicians? Excellent idea. Your list of 'secret plans' forgets forcing children up chimneys and compulsory port with school dinners...
