Labour Rocked to Foundations by Defection - Not

Blair's been to the Palace and we're on for May the 5th.

Another General Election blog has launched, the appropriately-named 2005 General Election blog (though it's more of a meta-blog really), under the stewardship of Nick Barlow.

Elsewhere, as Paul Anderson rightly comments, this really is the non-story of the election thus far. They'll have to do better than that I'm afraid. But I suspect they won't.

It would have been better if he'd left it until the count.

Tend to agree, loser candidate switches parties, not front page stuff. Good day to do it though.

Update: even the Beeb have an election blog now, which lifts the lid on that Alastair Campbell blog nonsense. If he can't even operate a Blackberry...

Everyone has a blog now, even dead-tree-journos. I think we are at a tipping point. Its information overload with no quality filter.

Actually, a good time to do it would have been a week on Monday when nominations close (IIRC). I remember watching the BBC's repeat of the 1979 election last year when the Liberal candidate in Cardiff South (Callaghan's constituency) withdrew five minutes before nominations closed and urged people to back the Conservatives.
