Quite. Though this problem among the ancillary arm of the entertainment industry could be neatly got around by simply making this chap Leader of the Lib Dems. As reluctant liberal AN Wilson commented in the Evening Standard recently, the current postholder isn't really up to appearing on the chatshows he's so derided for, never mind being an MP. Not surprisingly, I've heard this said among one or two active Lib Dems too, albeit with a few caveats attached.
