There Were No Hajibs on Highway

It was merely a chance remark on last night's 'Banned' season opener on Channel 4 that got me wondering, but is there by any chance a link between the recent rise in religious fundamentalism in the UK and the deaths of Dame Thora Hird and Sir Harry Secombe? I think we should be told.

It was also amusing to see Roy Hattersley's well-worn paternalist streak re-emerge with his denunciation of the loose morals in Footballers' Wives, though my desire to watch Beverley Hughes make a fool of herself over Brass Eye was unfortunately not sated by the programme.
